A Sneak Peek at the Ken Newman Collector's Preview - Art and Wine Pairing in Idaho

Although we love wine, it wasn't until artists Aldo Pitton and Liana Sofia Tumino brainstormed an idea a couple years ago, we never considered pairing art to wine... People know so much about wine and sometimes so little about art.  By pairing the Art with a Wine at an opening, it creates dialog that might not be explored except for this connection. The Collector's Preview at Galerie Belle Ame featured this concept. Each room (3) in the gallery has a body of work (sculptures), the collector was asked to find the work which best described the wine...  Enjoy!

Precipitous Drop - Coyote Flushing Chukars

COMPLEXITY - STRUCTURE - TENSION

2008 Spellbound Petit Sirah, Lodi California

You’ll howl at the moon like a coyote on a cool fall evening!

INTRICATE in color, rich black and brambly fruits, vanilla bean and roasting coffee aromatics are complimented by the approachability of the 2008 Spellbound Petite Sirah. The wine’s FRAMEWORK unleashes dark and luscious characteristics, while managing the FRICTION of tannins to deliver an opulent and juicy Petite Sirah. This lush yet easy drinking wine provides intense berry character, with superb texture you will find in no other Petite Sirah but Spellbound.

Observing Grace - Long Billed Curlew
LIGHTNESS - BALANCED - COMPOSITION

2009 Loredona Viognier, Lodi California

A delicate bird, skimming across the landscape on ballerina legs!

Viognier is one of the great grapes of France's Rhone Valley. It is an extremely aromatic variety, a SYMPHONY of ripe peaches and wild flowers. It is frequently used to add an AIRY complexity to blended wines. On its own, the Viognier delivers a rich, light wine with high alcohol and a STABLE MIX of honey, peach, apricot and tangerine.

American Pi - Sunday's Dress
SIMPLICITY - DIGNITY - STRENGTH

2008 Hahn Pinot Noir, Santa Lucia Highlands, California

The rooster stays close to home and guards the roost

Deep ruby in color, Hahn 2008 Pinot Noir exhibits the richness and DEPTH one has come to associate with Santa Lucia Highlands Pinot Noir. The MINIMAL scents of cherry and dark fruit mingle on the nose with wisps of black pepper. Flavors of ripe red and dark fruits, sweet oak and a tinge of citrus are balanced by cool-climate acidity and velvety tannins. The mouthfeel is rich yet elegant, tapering off to a lengthy, POWERFUL finish.

Sculptures and Wines Paired Exclusively for Galerie Belle Ame
